RSS

Over the decades, musicians have come around and cemented themselves, as icons that we adore and worship, filling our musical world with creative genius that will live forever. However, as humans, we all don’t live forever and a lot of musicians’ ride was cut far too soon, as we now look at the Top 5 Musicians Gone Too Soon.

5. The Notorious B.I.G. (Aged 24)

Born: May 21, 1972

Died: March 9, 1997

Over 20 years since Biggie passed, and the music still lives on in the hearts of many Hip-Hop fans as one of the most lyrically unstoppable figures the rap game had ever seen. With only two albums released after being tragically murdered in a drive-by, it shows how we lost him far too early and could’ve enjoyed more brilliance from the man himself.

4. Kurt Cobain (Aged 27)

Born: February 20, 1967

Died: April 5, 1994

The most influential and artistically gifted man to grace us died far too young and was crucial for the grunge scene at the time. Founder of one of the most popular and best-selling bands in Nirvana, the album Nevermind filled grunge and non-grunge fans rooms then and still to this day. Having struggled with depression and heroin addiction, we lost this man far too early to suicide at the young age of 27, which would’ve transpired in more creative genius for the future.

3. Jim Morrison

Born: December 8, 1943

Died: July 3, 1971

Mr. Mojo Risin’ was a man of poetry that influenced rock music as one of the most iconic frontmen of all time. A Part of the rock band The Doors, he was really the center of the group and the real attraction people went to see, with his wild antics and addictive personality and good looks. The creative potential was lost in 1971 when he fatally passed away which is still not completely known to this day.

2. Tupac Shakur (Aged 25)

Born: June 16, 1971

Died: September 13, 1996

Another hip-hop icon, 2Pac is regarded as one of the greatest and most influential rappers of all time. His raw lyrics and almost uncanny ability to read the future and what it meant to be African-American in a harsh era was what made him seem to be the voice of the people, and on that fateful 1996 night where he was gunned down, we lost one of the most special people to grace the Earth.

1. John Lennon (Aged 40)

Born: October 9, 1940

Died: December 8, 1980

Lastly, we commence with perhaps the greatest songwriter, influential activist and musicians of all time Mr. John Ono Lennon. Beginning his journey with the greatest band of all time The Beatles, he was a core part of the creative genius with Paul McCartney, but after a short 10 year period, he took on a life of peace and music that touched our hearts and led us to a new place. Sadly, he was shot dead outside his New York apartment building, where we lost future music and brilliance from such a loving man.

This list of brilliant personalities only touches the surface of how many musicians we lost far too soon but gives you an insight into the creative genius they had and gave us music that will live on forever.
